Olympic Games 2008
On July 13th, 2001 the IOC elected Beijing to be the host of the Olympic Games in 2008 With a 130 days, 85127 miles route planned for the Beijing 2008. Olympics Torch Relay, travelled great distance spanning several cities of the five continents of the earth.
Olympic Games 2008 was witnessed by several heads of many countries around the world. The opening ceremony was seen by billions of people, glued to their television sets. It was really the biggest event of the Olympic Games, which was not seen before.
India, too, had its share in this Olympic Games. Our country won one gold and two bronze medals. The gold medal won by Bindra, in shooting, was the first ever medal won in shooting, by an Indian. Several old records were broken and many new records were made.
The closing ceremony was another great event witnessed by billions of people around the work.
An ancient dream for China had come true. China probed the circles of the moon, the symbol of Olympic Games.
