Tsunami-The Killer Sea Waves
Tsunami is a Japanese term which means 'harbour wave'. On
December 26, 2004, the killer sea waves destroyed and affected parts of South
and South-East Asia the most. It was the strongest earthquake in the last 40
years. It made the earth tilt by around an inch from it's axis. It caused the
planet to spin three micro second faster. So the days will be shorter. Some
small islands moved by 20 m. Northwest tip of Sumetra shifted by 36 m.
India's southern most tip Indira point had been washed
forever. Nicobar Megapod incapable of flying had disappeared. Energy released
by the December 26, 2004 earthquake was equivalent to boiling 1,000 litres of
water for each person in the world and a billion bolts of lighting. Few Andaman
tribes escaped without major damage.
